Flat warts

Flat warts or young warts are warts on the skin of a viral nature, characteristic of children and young adults. Their appearance is due to a weakening of the immune system at a young age and inability to fight certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). The disease is caused by HPV types 3, 5 and 10. Viruses of this type are quite common in nature and are transmitted by direct contact, mainly among children. The disease manifests itself only when there is a violation of the immune status, and over time the warts can disappear on their own.

Reason

The appearance of flat warts is caused by penetration of the human papillomavirus types 3, 5, and 10 into the skin. The papilloma virus enters through cracks and small cracks in the skin and infects the keratinocytes. It alters the DNA of the cells and they begin to produce intensely collagen, which leads to the growth of the stratum corneum and the formation of warts.

The virus is transmitted by direct contact with an infected person, children develop mainly after contact with other children at daycare or school, but carrier adults who do not show signs of illness can also develop the virus. can become a source of the virus. Warts spread throughout the body when scratching or shaving.

Symptom

When infected with the virus, on the skin will appear flat, round or oval nodules, up to 3 mm in diameter. The nodules can merge with each other, forming polygonal eruptions. Usually, first, warts on the mother form, around which warts smaller than girls will appear. When scratched, papules grow linearly as the virus spreads in the direction of the comb. Nodules can be single or multiple - depending on the level of resistance of the body. In color, the formations do not differ from healthy skin, but sometimes they are slightly yellow or brown.

The surface of the rash is smooth and is not accompanied by itching, pain, or burning. The papules are localized mainly on the skin of the hands or on the face - the first places of contact with the virus particles. Although they can spread to other surfaces: the forearm, the lining of the mouth, or the red border of the lips.

Diagnose

It is enough to evaluate the specific clinical picture and conduct an autopsy. Rarely, viral identification by polymerase chain reaction is used.

With a large number of warts and ineffective treatment, a complete examination of the body and immune status of the patient is carried out. A common process often indicates more serious health problems.

How to get rid of flat warts?

  1. Boost the immune system with an antihelminthic drug.
  2. Antikeratolytic and antiviral drugs are also used: 5% salicylic-resorcinol ointment, oxolinic ointment, ointment or cream with interferon alpha-2, 10% silver nitrate solution. Silver nitrate is not recommended for the removal of flat warts on the face.
  3. In rare cases, cryotherapy and laser removal are used.

When warts appear in children, the formation is in most cases monitored simply because of the high likelihood of spontaneous resolution.

Treatment with folk remedies

There are many effective folk remedies for warts. They are based on the use of plants and substances with keratolytic properties:

  1. King tree. The juice from this stem helps to dissolve the top layer of warts. Nodules are lubricated with celandine juice several times a day until complete recovery.
  2. Potato. The gel from the top layer of the potato (just under the skin) is applied to the wart and covered with a bandage. Compression is left overnight. This procedure should be done every other day until the papules disappear.
  3. Vinegar. Once a day, apply vinegar to the surface of the rash until the wound is completely healed.
  4. Kalanchoe. Gruel from the leaves of Kalanchoe is applied to the papilloma, a bandage or gauze napkin is placed on top. Compression is left for several hours. The procedure must be performed daily.

Forecast and consequences

The prognosis for the appearance of juvenile warts is favorable. The formations do not undergo malignancy and quickly disappear with immunological normalization.

To avoid their appearance, you need to thoroughly wash your child's hands after going to any public place and promptly treat colds and other diseases that reduce immunity.
